Private Fostering

Private Fostering arrangements

Usually parents look after their children, but sometimes other people may be called on to look after them.  A close relative may be called on to provide care (aunts, uncle, step-parent, grandparent or 18+ sibling).

If a child is to be looked after by someone who is not a close relative, and is to give accommodation and care for a child for 28 days or more, the parent and private foster carer MUST notify the Local Authority six weeks before, or 48 hours before in an emergency. This is a requirement placed on parents by government.

Please email the Specialist Fostering Team at:

SpecialistFostering.Team@cambridgeshire.gov.uk

If the school become aware of this, we will notify the Local Authority as soon as we are made aware by emailing: referralcentre.children@cambridgeshite.gov.uk
